Spartan Forge LabWare began with a problem I ran into on my very first week in fermentation science. During training, I noticed expensive fermentation probes being stored in a standard test tube rack—top-heavy, unsecured, and just one bump away from hitting the floor. It was the kind of “temporary solution” that somehow becomes permanent in busy labs.

Over the next several years, I tried everything I could think of: modifying racks, repurposing bins, and experimenting with different storage approaches. Even after discussing options with manufacturers, I couldn’t find a purpose-built solution that kept probes upright, protected, and easy to access—without creating more hassle during routine work.

In early 2025, I finally took the leap into 3D printing (with strong encouragement from my wife), and it didn’t take long to realize I could use those tools to solve the problem the right way. Prototyping began—learning CAD modeling, printing and testing designs, and gathering feedback from colleagues who deal with the same probe storage frustrations every day.

That process led to what is now the Rack, Caddy, and Dock probe storage system—a durable, scalable set of storage options designed for real fermentation workflows. Every product is built around the same goals: keep probes vertical, protect sensitive tips, and make storage simple without extra steps.
